Challenge
The key challenge was reclaiming and organizing a neglected river edge while balancing ecological restoration, urban development, and social inclusivity. Integrating informal economies like Ravivari market without displacement, while ensuring accessibility and usability across diverse user groups, was complex. Additionally, addressing flooding, pollution, and fragmented connectivity required a resilient and multi-scalar urban strategy.
Solution
The project resolves this through a stratified design approach creating layered public spaces that separate yet connect different functions. Ecological restoration, flood control, and green infrastructure stabilize the river edge, while inclusive promenades and marketplaces activate it socially and economically. Integrated mobility networks and phased development ensure long-term adaptability, making the riverfront a resilient and dynamic urban catalyst.
